To further cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses in Ogun State, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has commenced mobilisation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to enable them register and access the N75 billion MSMEs Survival Fund from the Federal Government.
Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe who made this known while speaking during a meeting with various MSMEs and Business Membership Organisations (BMOs) on the Survival Fund, at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration remains committed to ensuring that eligible small businesses access the Fund and other intervention funds available.
Longe stated that small business owners in the State should access the five components of the Survival Fund which include, the payroll support, Artisan/Transport Grants, General MSME Grants, Formalisation Support and Guaranteed Off-take Stimulus Scheme.
The Commissioner noted that application for the Payroll Support available for private schools, factory owners, law firms, hospitals and hotels, was currently on, stressing that the application for component of the Survival Fund closes by the October 15, 2020.
She added that the Artisan/Transport Grant which was a one-off payment of N30,000 to self-employed individuals such as mechanics, taxi drivers, hairdressers, Keke Napep riders, Okada riders, plumbers, electricians among others, commences between Monday, October 19, and Saturday, October 31, 2020, while application for other components would be announced later.
Longe called on small businesses to promptly register for the Survival Fund via www.survivalfundapplication.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola assured that accessing the MSMEs Survival Fund would be transparent and fair without the need for any form of connection, calling on the various BMOs and MSMEs to take advantage of the Fund.
In their responses, the Chairman, National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Ogun State chapter, Dr. Akinwunmi Alonge and the Vice President, Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), Chief Jare Oyesola lauded the effort of the Ministry, assuring that their Organisations would mobilise their members to register and benefit from the Fund.
