OGSG COMMENDS TEACHERS' EFFORTS ON WASSCE

          Ogun State Government has commended teachers and school administrators’ efforts in preparing the students for better performance in the West African Senior Secondary School Examinations (WASSCE), as well as Covid-19 safety compliance of both students and teachers.

      

    The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo gave this commendation while monitoring the ongoing WASSCE examination across the State, urging school administrators not to relent in giving their best to the students by encouraging synergy among the junior and senior staff in their schools.

    

      "We need you to up your game during this period, all hands must be on deck to ensure that these children do well in the examination; therefore revision classes should continue after each paper, to prepare the students for the next examination. We must commend you teachers for a job well done", she said.

          In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye said the monitoring was to assess the level of compliance and ascertain that necessary provisions were available for the students.

          Responding, the Principals, Ijemo Titun High School, Abeokuta, Junior and Senior, Mr. Lateef Adeboye and Mrs. Tolulope Fasanya, said the two-week revision exercise was effectively maximised to prepare the students, as all efforts were expended to cover the academic gaps, appreciating government’s efforts towards ensuring better performance for students in the WASSCE examination.

          In their remarks, two of the students, Samuel Adebayo and Abdulkareem Ridwan revealed that the Ogun Digiclass and the revision class helped in preparing them for the examination, commending government for prioritising education and ensuring that teaching and learning were not put on hold during the lockdown.

          Some of the schools visited included Abeokuta Girls Grammar School, Ijemo Titun High School, Abeokuta, Peaklane College, Akute, Ultra College, Akute, among others.
