ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION :PANACEA TO PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE
Ogun State Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu says the establishment of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) will encourage peaceful and satisfactory resolution of disputes through voluntary settlement procedures.

Justice Dipeolu made this known in Abeokuta, during the opening ceremony of the Special Fellowship Course and Investiture for Traditional Rulers, by the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), saying the training and investiture would further assist in promoting and revolutionising the Justice sector, as the Obas’ participation was an avenue of extending ADR to the grassroots.

She intimated that during the lockdown, various disputes which required qualified and experienced mediators and conciliators for resolution came up, noting that successful operation of the alternative dispute resolution rests on the traditional setting which was still being explored in most places.
Justice Dipeolu said the training and award conferment on the Monarchs would motivate others into exploring ADR, as their subjects would complement government’s efforts in conflict resolution.
According to her, "with the commitment of all stakeholders in justice delivery system in the State, it is no longer news that we have been able to establish Multi-Doors Court House in Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode, Ota and recently in Sagamu. The State Judiciary has keyed into this new dimension in justice delivery as most of our Hon. Judges and Magistrates are Fellows and Associate Members of the Institute".
In his contribution, one of the trainees, the Akarigbo of Remoland, HRM, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, emphasised the need for traditional rulers to broaden their knowledge as they were the custodian of traditions and customs.
"knowledge is not limited and we need to acquire and explore it in different perspectives, as most of the states are now enacting laws that will suit its State and be justifying among its inhabitants", he said.
