The Permanent Secretary in charge of the Ministry, Mr. Abiodun Awere, stated this while reeling out achievements during the 2020 budget assessment before members of State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism, led by Hon. Yusuf Adejojo, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Awere stated that the Ministry had ensured consistent gathering and dissemination of information to members of the public, in line with the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration’s agenda, which hinged on accountability, transparency and probity.
Outlining programmes packaged in creating awareness to the people, the Permanent Secretary explained that modern equipment including, digital cameras were procured to improve on the work output, adding that more procurement and upgrading of facilities would be embarked upon.
Also appearing before the Committee, the General Manager, Ogun State Television, Engr. Festus Kehinde has assured of swift improvement in content generation, especially through local production of programmes and exchange with other independent producers, in its bid to improve production output of the State-owned broadcast outfit.
According to him, such development would bring about increased viewership, thereby enhancing the rating of the station to attract advertisers, adding that more enlightenment and informative programmes would be implemented to avail residents of the State about government’s strides in the delivery of democratic dividends.
The General Manager while presenting successes recorded so far to the lawmakers, noted that the Station had generated over N170.6m as revenue in the last six months, representing 68 percent proportionate performance, while sustaining its 24-hour operations in the face of the dwindling revenue, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the lawmakers commended Managements of the Ministry and State’s television station for their efforts at ensuring the sustenance of publicity and enlightenment programmes on government activities to the people, urging them to improve on their service delivery.
