Ogun State government has declared interest in partnering and supporting Food production and Processing Firms in the State, in order to boost their production capacity and meet the increasing demand of the people.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina disclosed this when he led Steering Committee Members of the State's Anchor Borrowers Programme to Master Meat and Long Cottage Agro Ventures in Ikenne, Ikenne Local Government and Atan in Ijebu North East Local Government Areas respectively.
He advised them not to default on the various government regulations, assuring of government continued protection of their investments, creation of linkage and expansion of their markets.
Corroborating Odedina's submissions, Professor of Food Science Technology and member of the state's Anchor Borrower Programme, Prof. Sanni Lateef, maintained that good hygiene must be sustained, just as they expand their catchment areas.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Dotun Sorunke, advised the firms to see beyond the hygiene of their firms and address post abattoir contamination in order to engender total hygiene on the people, saying the Ministry would not hesitate to provide technical support, increase efficiency as well as provide expansion when called upon.
In her remarks, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Agric, Dr. Angel Adelaja- Kuye said since a lot of farmers are properly trained on meat processing and preservation, the Ministry through the Veterinary Services Department would not relent at ensuring safety.
