Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Celebrates Democracy Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Grassroots Development
OTA, OGUN STATE — June 12, 2026 – The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, has said Democracy Day offers an opportunity for leaders and citizens alike to reflect on the values of accountability, inclusiveness, transparency, and service to the people, which remain the bedrock of a thriving democracy.
The LG boss, Hon. Lawal Wasiu made this during an interactive session with the journalists in his office, at the secretariat in Ota statement describing June 12 as a significant milestone in Nigeria's democratic journey, noting that the day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by patriots who fought for the enthronement and sustenance of democratic governance in the country.
Hon. Wasiu said his administration has continued to implement people-oriented projects and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents adding that these efforts align with the developmental vision of the Ogun State Government under Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, as well as the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda.
He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy through the provision of improved infrastructure, enhanced healthcare services, strengthened security measures, and expanded empowerment opportunities for youths and women across the local government area.
Lawal assured residents that the council would continue to pursue policies and initiatives that promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life of the people, emphasizing that grassroots governance remains critical to national progress.
He advised members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities capable of threatening the peace and stability of the area saying residents must be vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
"As we celebrate this year's Democracy Day, let us remain united in our commitment to peace, progress, and community development. Together, we can build a more prosperous Ado-Odo/Ota and a stronger Nigeria," the chairman said.
