ADO-ODO/OTA LG LAUNCHES POULTRY INITIATIVE TO BOOST FOOD SECURITY, PROTEIN INTAKE

Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government in Ogun State has launched a Poultry development initiative aimed at improving protein intake and strengthening food security across the Council area.

The Executive Chairman, Hon. Lawal Wasiu revealed this at the Local Government secretariat, saying that revitalising the local government’s poultry facility in Ado-Odo would in no doubt enhance the production and affordability of eggs for residents.

He stated that in achieving this, the Council had procured 10 additional battery cages to expand housing capacity for birds, alongside the acquisition of 1,000 pullets to drive large-scale egg production. Modern poultry equipment, including feeders and drinkers, had also been secured to ensure proper feeding practices and maintain high hygiene standard, saying the project reflected his administration’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and improved livelihoods.

“The scheme is projecting our administration’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and improved livelihoods for residents,” he stated.

The Chairman added that the initiative was expected to boost local egg production, create employment opportunities and reduce dependence on external food sources.

Meanwhile, repair works had commenced at the poultry facility in Ado-Odo, marking a significant step towards enhancing nutrition, stimulating economic growth and promoting sustainable development within the Local government area.

The Poultry development initiative aligned with the Council’s broader agricultural agenda, which prioritised economic empowerment and the establishment of sustainable food systems.
