SUBEB CALLS FOR PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP AS TECH HUB COMMISSIONED IN OGUN SCHOOL

The Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has called on well-meaning individuals, philanthropists and corporate organisations to collaborate with the Ogun State Government in providing essential facilities for Public Primary Schools to fast-track infrastructural development.

Ifede made the call during the commissioning and handover of a Tech Hub donated by Founder of Community Care Foundation, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, at Emmanuel Anglican Primary School I, Italupe, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

According to him, early exposure of learners to computers would help them acquire strong digital skills at young age, thereby positioning them to remain relevant and competitive in a technology-driven world as they grow.

The SUBEB Chairman charged the Headteacher and teachers of the school to ensure proper care and maintenance of the facility, stressing that learners of the host school as well as those from neighbouring schools should make effective use of the Tech Hub to enhance their digital knowledge.

He commended the donor on behalf of the Ogun State Government, describing the project as timely and strategic, given the increasing role of technology in education and everyday life.

Also speaking, Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Mr. Dare Alebiosu, commended the donor for the initiative, describing it as a transformative investment in the future of the learners.

In her address, the donor, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, noted that a child’s future should not be determined by their postcode. She explained that the Tech Hub was more than a computer room, but a platform designed to nurture and prepare future leaders.

She added that the era of teaching theory without practical exposure at the primary school level was over, as learners could now interact directly with computers, build confidence, develop interest in technology and potentially pursue careers in the digital field.

Appreciating the donor on behalf of the pupils, Head Girl, Miss Motunrayo Lawal, expressed gratitude for the Tech Hub, noting that it would enhance their computer knowledge and make learning more engaging.
