 OGUN MONARCH URGES INCREASED SECURITY AHEAD OF FESTIVE SEASON



The Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba AbdulAzees Adelakun, has called on residents of Ayetoro and neighbouring communities to intensify vigilance and strengthen security measures before, during and after the forthcoming festive period.


The monarch made the appeal during a security stakeholders’ meeting in Ayetoro, stressing the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property as festivities draw near.


Oba Adelakun, speaking through the Asiwaju of Ayetoro, Chief Kunle Amosun, hinted that criminal activities often increase during celebrations, urging community leaders, youth groups, market unions and security outfits to collaborate closely to forestall any breach of peace.


“Our community must remain alert at all times. Security is everyone’s business, especially during festive seasons when miscreants try to take advantage. I am calling on all residents to support security agencies and report suspicious movements promptly,” the monarch said.


Stakeholders present at the meeting, including Local Chiefs, Community Development Associations (CDA), representatives, Religious leaders, representative of Artisans and representative of Security Agencies, echoed the monarch’s concerns and pledged their cooperation toward keeping the town safe.


In her remarks, the Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force, ACP Ayo Alabi, assured the traditional ruler and the entire community of the preparedness of security agencies to ensure a peaceful celebration period.


“We are fully ready and committed to ensuring that Ayetoro and its environs remain safe, our personnel will be deployed strategically and we will respond professionally to any situation that may arise. We also urge residents to partner with us by giving timely and credible information.” ACP Alabi said.


She reiterated that proactive measures, intelligence sharing and community participation remained critical to effective security management, to forestall security.


The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work together to maintain peace and protect the cultural vibrancy of the festive season in Ayetoro.
