Engineer Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Declares Bid for Ado-Odo/Ota House of Reps Seat
Engineer and grassroots politician, Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, has thrown her hat into the ring, declaring her intention to contest for the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives come 2027.
Her decision is driven by a desire to end decades of "poor representation" that has hindered development in the area.
Agemo-Okuboyejo expressed deep concerns over the consistent legislative neglect of the constituency since the return of democracy in 1999. She lamented that despite being one of Nigeria's most industrialized local governments, Ado-Odo/Ota lacks basic infrastructure and federal attention. "Industry brings development — it happened in Ikeja and Ilupeju — but it never happened here," she said.
Agemo-Okuboyejo outlined different strategic development priorities for various towns in the constituency. For Ado-Odo, she emphasized the need to tap into the area's agricultural potential. In Igbesa, she suggested activating the technical college to provide skilled manpower. In Ota, she highlighted the need for improved roads and urban governance.
Agemo-Okuboyejo also spoke about her plans for women and youths, particularly market women and young people in need of vocational training. She revealed that her NGO has already been active in providing support and empowerment initiatives across the constituency.
Agemo-Okuboyejo declared her readiness to contest under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which she described as her political home dismissing insinuations about the party's strength in the constituency following defections, saying, "Yes, some people left after losing elections and court cases — like Sikirulai Ogundele. But that doesn't affect our resolve. PDP is alive and active in Ado-Odo/Ota."
Agemo-Okuboyejo concluded with quiet determination, "This dream will come true. I will not be a bystander. I'm here to revive Ado-Odo/Ota and make it what it truly deserves to be — a powerhouse in Ogun State and beyond."
