Ogun Nigeria Medical Association Kick-starts Training Exercise For TRACE

 In a bid to foster efficiency and pro- activeness of 'TRACE' Corps on our roads, the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Ogun state branch kick- starts a -two day training programme for officers and men of the Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, (TRACE).



While declaring the program open, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport Mr Ogunleye Dahunsi representing the Ogun State Alhaja Selmot Otun Head Of Service said the training exercise is designed to equip men and officers of the Corps with the skills on proper ways to rescue and handle accident victims and casualties.


"This training is a critical step towards saving accident victims. The participants will be equipped with the knowledge of how to better handle accident victims and efficient ways to offer first aids to those involved in road crashes," she said.

Responding Commander 'Seni Ogunyemi, Corps Commander/CEO, TRACE, added that the training is going to be on a quarterly basis, involving virtually all our operatives and men, equipping each with the requisite technical skills for proper rescuing of accident victims, thereby reducing to the barest minimum, cases of mishandling that can aggravate the bad situations of people in such conditions.

"We will not compromise this position by ensuring that rescue operations are carried out strictly by our men who are trained, while we would also incorporate same skills to the motoring public in our various public enlightenment programmes.' Ogunyemi added.

Giving a breakdown about the training, Ogunyemi, said,, "This training is broken into four sessions in line with the Covid 19 protocols, with each session training 25 officers. At the end of the  two days training, 100 officers will have acquired skills in four global acceptable ways of handling accident victims.

"Participants will be equipped with, 1. First aid basics and universal precautions. 2. Lifting and moving injured victims. 3. Bleeding and control of external bleeding. 4. cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR." he said.

The training is facilitated by Dr. Ogunlaja Oladayo, Chairman, NMA, Ogun state branch, Dr. Mrs. Aderinwale Oluwaseyi, General Secretary, NMA, Ogun State.

Also in attendance, are, Osasola A., Permanent Secretary, Transportation,  and Mrs. Bola Fajounbo, Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Training, both of the Ogun state Ministry of Transport, and Cdr. Abdul Olabode, Head, Training and Public Education, TRACE.
