Committed to ensuring that members of the various constituencies in Ogun State benefit from private sector driven real estate development, the State House of Assembly has expressed its readiness to partner with the State Chapter of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria to ensure seamless housing delivery through the passage of relevant legislations guiding the sector.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, gave the assurance at the Assembly complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while playing host to the leadership of the Association led by its Chairman, Okusanya Oyebola.
Oluomo, noted that stakeholders in the sector must put in place strategies to further enhance the integrity and reputation of the property industry, with a view to encouraging increased housing delivery for the benefit of residents in the State who desire quality housing facilities in their choice areas.
According to him, the legislations would ensure quality regulation and seamless operations that would in turn contribute to the growth of the sector, assuring that the legislative arm remained open for any development initiatives from the people without sacrificing the need to promote orderly environment in the State.
Earlier in his presentation, Oyebola stated that efforts were in top gear by the Association to complement the affordable housing programmes of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in the State with the take-off of 20,000 units of low-cost housing in each Local Government Area for the benefit of low-income earners.
In another development, the Assembly has commended the State Chapter of the Nigerian Girls Guide Association for its continued efforts at ensuring the proper upbringing of the girl-child in their formative stages.
The Speaker gave the commendation while playing host to the members of the Association led by the Dep. Chief Commissioner, B-Zone, Rhoda Thomas at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Oluomo in the company of other lawmakers noted that the importance of the international organisation could not be underestimated, owing to its role at inculcating values and morals in the female gender as part of extracurricular activities of their schools to make them outstanding in their youthful age.
In her presentation, the Deputy Chief Commissioner, B-Zone, who solicited government's supports for all its programmes and activities in the State, said the Association which prioritised issues that affect girl and women, would continue to inculcate patriotism, hard work, discipline and selfless services, which would bring about honesty and accountability in their future endeavours.
