BUDGET COMMISSIONER TASKS MDAs ON SOCIAL REGISTER UTILISATION

In a bid to alleviate poverty and uplift vulnerable households in Ogun State, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan has urged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to take advantage of the State Single Social Register (OGSSR), by liaising with the Ogun State Operations Coordinating Unit (OGSOCU), for mapping beneficiaries of social intervention programmes.

The call was contained in a circular issued by the office of the Commissioner in Abeokuta, where it stated that the register would be useful for social functional MDAs, development partners, corporate organisations and philanthropists.

Olabimtan expressed confidence that the document was a veritable tool for planning, both at State and Local Government levels, towards elevating standard of living of vulnerable in the society.

The Budget Commissioner informed that the register has over 33,000 households, representing about 132,000 members. He added that the criteria for selection and populating the National Social Register (NSR), was at the discretion of concerned communities, enjoining all MDAs to note the circular for compliance.
