WE'LL ENSURE ALL TEACHERS ARE ICT COMPLIANT- ABIODUN'S AIDE

 As part of the efforts to ensure effective teaching and upgrade teachers’ skills for better academic performance, the Ogun State Government has declared its intention in making sure that its teachers are trained on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).


The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo said this during the maiden edition of Computer Teachers' Association of Nigeria (CTAN), Ogun State Chapter, Ijebu Block Conference, tagged; "Emerging Edutech" at Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode.

Soyombo submitted that for teachers to meet up with 21st-century education, ICT becomes the most important teaching method, urging them to be creative, proactive and adopt a new wave of teaching.

"Whether we like it or not, with the 21st-century education that is needed after COVID-19, everybody has to take ICT very seriously. You will see that we are in the time of technology and the use of Science Teacher and Mathematics Engineering, STEM, must come to stay. There is no way we can drive Sustainable Development Goals without technology and the only way we can make our children become profound learners is by empowering them on ICT", she said.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman CTAN, Ijebu Block, Mr. Dapo Kehinde said the training was to leverage on technology, to effectively infuse modern technology into education sector of the State.

According to him "teachers who are not versed and versatile in the use of ICT may likely become outdated, irrelevant and eventually be sidelined".
