TO ENSURE EFFICIENT BUDGETING OGSG INAUGURATES SECTORAL WORKING COMMITTEE 

           A sectoral Technical Working Committee (TWC), have been inaugurated with a charge to monitor and evaluate proposed projects and programmes of agencies, in order to avoid wastage, duplication of projects, ensure accurate record keeping, as well as registration of all government assets.

    

      The Sector which consisted representatives of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Bureaus of State Pensions and Local Government Pensions was to guide and monitor Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the budget implementation for social and welfare of the people.

    

      The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, who is also Chairman of the Committee, Mrs. Irene Kokumo, during the inauguration in her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the Committee was to ensure a virile monitoring and evaluation mechanism that would make them achieve the target objectives of the Sector, noting that it would continue to work in compliance with the directives of Ministry of Budget and Planning.

          She charged the Committee to avail themselves with all relevant templates for reporting, documentations, monitoring and evaluation for higher productivity and efficiency in governmental activities.

          In his contribution, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of State Pensions, Mr. Olakunle Sodeinde, urged members to synergise with the respective Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) unit in their various MDAs, to ensure they deliver on their proposed projects and programmes.

          In their separate responses, representatives of Ministries of Women Affairs and Social Development, Budget and Planning, Mr. Emmanuel Olawade and Mr. Musibau Onigbinde respectively, harped on the importance of monitoring and evaluation of projects and activities of agencies concerned, adding that proposals must complement the existing projects among other things, just as Committee members should work together to achieve a common goal and render feedback of activities to the Ministry of Budget and Planning
