OGUN TRADITIONALISTS SEEK GOVERNMENTS' RECOGNITION , PLEDGE SUPPORTS

The Chairman, Ogun State  Traditional Worshippers  Association (TWASO),  Oluwo Faniyi  Fasola has appealed to Governor  Dapo Abiodun  led-administration  to always consider the Association in his decision - making process and allows  every  20th August as public holiday to celebrate "Iseese" day festival.

Oluwo Fasola while fielding the journalists during an interview  at his resident in Ota added that Iseese Festival is an Avenue to boost Socio-economic  prowess of the State in particular and the whole country in general

"We, as traditionalists should also enjoy dividend of democracy through this government, because we vote, we are part of the state, government should not see us as nothing,  Iṣẹṣẹ should not be viewed as being cannibalistic, it's not devilish,



"We are all products of "Iseese" one way or the other, it encompasses various facets of live and encapsulates all the ramifications,  isese means what binds us to our past either as a family, as tribe or as a nation, as far as we all eat and put on native food and clothes, we are practicing iṣẹṣẹ, when we have dead parents, iṣẹṣẹ festival is a means of communicating with our ancestors and deities ", he explained.



According  to him, government should carry us along, it is only the Christian and Muslim that are reckoned with saying there is a clear difference  between  traditional  worshippers  and institutions in which our Kings represent.

Faniyi laments that most of the traditional  rulers are not traditional  worshippers  which  implies that they cannot represent traditional  worshippers which has overtime  caused confusion saying there is need to orientate our people in order to have good understanding.

He urges the traditionalists to adhere  strictly to rules guiding Covid-19 pandemic during  this year celebration on August 20th adding that it should be observed  in a low key to make government  efforts  in eradicating  Corona virus,  a success.
